Haiti - Easter 2023 : Message of reflection by Lesly Condé 09/04/2023 09:56:16
"Dear compatriots and friends everywhere, I am delighted to be able to be with you again this year for the celebration of Easter. It is always a pleasure to find relatives and friends at this wonderful time of the year when everything seems to be reborn to invite us to meditation, prayer and love of neighbor. Even the forces of nature agree to tell us about this extraordinary renewal of hope which presents itself after a flagrant defeat. Easter is the irrefutable expression of the Christian faith and of the immeasurable power of the creator of the universe. This is what we celebrate together today. For my part, I am happy to be able to accompany you in your Christian homes on this very important day. I am immensely grateful to you. In Haiti, we pay special attention to Easter Sunday. It is, indeed, one of the most joyful occasions for Christians everywhere. Songs in all languages express the gratitude and joy of believers. It's an enriching atmosphere that keeps repeating itself as the years go by. It is as if we were witnessing each time the glorious phenomenon of the resurrection. Worship is, naturally, more colorful, and the optimism of Easter Sunday is something we want to carry on throughout the year. There is a symbolism in the celebration of Easter and the mystery of the resurrection that applies to our lives as mortals and sinners. The dark and painful moments that follow the horrible death of Jesus Christ symbolize the darkness that takes possession of our souls when we live in sin. The resurrection of Jesus Christ speaks to us of the immense goodness of the creator, and of the redemption that is always within our reach. Of all the Christian holidays, Easter is undoubtedly one of the most significant. It is also an occasion for fervent prayers and intense reflection. We cannot prevent to think of God's love for mankind. We know that despite our imperfections, the architect of the universe loved us so much that he agreed to subject his son Jesus Christ to humiliation, bodily suffering and death for our salvation. Our celebration today is therefore one of love and faith. The sacrifice of Jesus is the most convincing proof of the love of the Most High for us humans who are only simple sinners. There are also the physical sufferings and the humiliations to which the son of God agreed to subject himself because of our sins. All of this should remind us that we are imperfect and that we must learn to forgive the imperfections of our fellow human beings. We all need forgiveness at one time or another. In closing, thank you once again for giving me your attention. I invite you to meditate on the deep meaning of the mystery of the resurrection. I take this opportunity to wish you an excellent Easter Sunday in peace, harmony and security. Let's always keep a place in our hearts for love."
