Haiti - Christmas : End of year message from Lesly Condé
Message from Lesly Condé :
"Dear compatriots and friends everywhere,
I truly appreciate the enormous privilege you are granting me by allowing me to keep you company at this precious time of the year. I know that the holiday season is about family, good friends, fond memories and that great feeling of deep gratitude that we all have at the end of a year during which challenges were met, obstacles overcome, and errors corrected. As we celebrate the Christmas of 2022, we prepare to welcome 2023 with its own challenges, its own surprises, and its own lessons. This year 2023, we all want it to be prosperous and safe. The lessons we have learned, and the experiences we have gained this year will help us to be more successful in 2023. As for me, nothing equals the happiness that these few moments spent with you bring me. I wish you a happy holiday season, and all the best.
This year, we approach the holiday season with a lighter heart than last year as concerns about the pandemic have lessened somewhat. There are fewer restrictions on our movements and meetings. However, caution and discretion should still be exercised as the pandemic still exists even though it can be said to be more or less under control. Prudence being the mother of all virtues, I advise you to be prudent at all times. That being said, I encourage you to make the most of the holiday season with family and friends.
However, we must not lose sight of the original meaning of this Christmas celebration. It is the day when all Christians around the world celebrate the coming into the world of the Son of God. In celebrating the most important day in the Christian world, we must above all focus on the symbolism involved in the circumstances in which the savior of mankind came among us. Christmas is the birth of the only son of God who brought us a powerful message of love and humility. The spirit of Christmas encourages us to love our neighbour, and above all, to reach out to those who need help. The world would be a better place if that Christmas spirit could last all year.
In closing, I urge you once again to exercise caution and moderation; while wishing you a Merry Christmas in peace and security."
