Haiti - World Parents' Day : Message from the Minister of Education
As part of World Parents' Day (June 1st, 2023), Professor Nesmy Manigat, Minister of National Education in a message paid tribute, in a message, to parents for their dedication, commitment and sacrifice for their children..

Message from Minister Manigat:

"[...] On this day, I want to take my hat off to salute Haitian parents, especially women, who continue to support their children and accompany them on their way to school.

In truth, without the sacrifice and commitment of parents, this 2022-2023 school year would not be possible. If the year will not be lost, it is thanks to the involvement of each parent to defend the future of children who are directly linked to school.

Thus, the Ministry of National Education, says respect and solidarity to all parents, for the important role they play in society, especially in the lives of children. Hat ! In this sense, the educational compensation program (remedial courses), set up by the Ministry, supports our efforts and our sacrifices in preparing the future of children to enable them to pass state exams this year. . These courses are offered free of charge in several public schools in the country https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39657-haiti-education-national-learning-recovery-program-for-students-more-details.html and https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39522-haiti-flash-state-exams-support-program-for9th-af-and-secondary-students.html

We have lost too many school days in recent years. Like all other countries, Haiti has the responsibility and the duty to take the initiative to prepare children well when we consider all the learning losses and the epidemic of Covid-19, pays lòk, Cholera etc... which makes children unable to see programs. The Ministry is in close contact with several other partners such as UNICEF, Education Cannot Wait and the IDB, happy to support parents.

In addition, the government with the support of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) puts pressure on parents. Thus, about 500,000 parents will find ways to keep their children in school. This program is called Cash Transfer for Education.

There is no life without parents, no education without parents, no adequate framework without parents.

For this reason, the Ministry asks mothers and fathers to keep an eye on their children and give them feedback on the functioning of schools. The school councils are for the participation of all parents in the life of the school, to protect the rights of children. I am counting on you Haitian parents who keep making sacrifices to send and keep your children in school.

I am proud of you.
Respect for you !
Let's continue to move forward together to protect the rights of our children !"
