Haiti - FLASH : Canada sanctions a businessman and 3 gang leaders
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly, concluded her visit to Washington, D.C., where she attended the 53rd General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Minister Joly announced that Canada has imposed sanctions for human rights violations, including sexual violence, against 4 additional individuals related to the situation in Haiti: businessman André Apaid and the gang leaders Wilson Joseph alias "Lanmo San Jou" one of the "400 Mawozo" gang leader, Innocent Vitel'Homme alias "Vitelom" Gang leader "Kraze Barye" and Johnson André alias "Izo"", Leader of the gang "5 seconds".

These sanctions impose a ban on transactions which has the effect of freezing any assets that these persons may hold in Canada. In addition, these individuals are now inadmissible to Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
