Haiti - Crisis : Why Kenya have the support of the USA, Canada and France?
Following the declaration of Alfred Mutua, the Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs "[...] Kenya has accepted to positively consider leading a Multi-National Force to Haiti. Lets recall that in recent years, Kenya has specialized with UN agencies in peacekeeping in war zones, such as Somalia, Congo or Afghanistan. It is this expertise of Kenya in terms of external military intervention, which has earned it the support of the USA, Canada and France, among others.

Moreover, for the Kenyan Government to be at the head of a multinational intervention force in Haiti is a strong symbol because Kenya is an economic power, has a robust army and is respected in Africa. This multinational force in Haiti also represents for Kenya a significant source of income for its economy...

Beyond the reluctance of part of the Haitian population, this possible intervention force under development (if the Security Council votes in favor) should ultimately be more easily accepted by Haitians who will be able to identify more to Kenyan police officers, than to French, Canadian or American ones…
