Haiti - FLASH: The Dominican Ambassador to Haiti summoned to the Haitian Chancellery

Following the implementation of the ultimatum of Dominican President Luis Abinader to close the land, air and maritime borders with Haiti, following the resumption of work in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-40503-haiti-flash-dr-closes-its-land-sea-and-air-borders-with-haiti-goods-and-passengers.htmlof an irrigation canal in Haiti with a water intake on the river Massacre, considered "illegal" by the Dominicans, the Dominican Ambassador to Haiti, Farouk Miguel Castillo, was summoned Thursday, September 14, 2023 to the Haitian Chancellery to provide explanations on this decision of the Dominican Government.
Emmelie Prophète Milcé, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs who received him, clearly expressed the "disapproval of the Haitian Government in the face of these disproportionate measures which will have negative consequences on relations between the two countries."
She also expressed her concerns for the security of Haitian nationals in the Dominican Republic and asked the Dominican Ambassador that his Government take all measures to protect them.
