Haiti - FLASH : The conditional stay program continues, 211,040 Haitians legally in the USA, but..

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has informed that under the Conditional Stay Program, it continues to accept asylum applications at the U.S.-Mexico border and allows travel for certain nationals of Haiti, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, even after January 20, 2025, the date President Donald Trump takes office.

"We have not made any changes to the CBP One process or the parole program for Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela in recent months [...] We continue to schedule appointments through CBP One; these are generally scheduled 21 days in advance," DHS told the Miami Herald.

However, it is worth recalling that Donald Trump during his campaign stated his intention to deactivate the CBP One service. While it is unclear what programs Trump plans to eliminate, immigration experts expect changes to the conditional stay program.

According to DHS figures, as of November 2024, under the Conditional Stay Program, 531,670 people have arrived legally in the United States (Haitians: 211,040 - Venezuelans: 117,320 - Cubans: 110,240 and Nicaraguans: 93,080).
