![]() Haiti - Social : Memorial at the Parc Martissant 13/01/2012 12:50:17
"Create a Haitian Memorial in the Parc Martissant, it's make real an approach initially utopian : is to believe, despite the many deadly living conditions still present, that by respecting and honoring the dead, by allowing the memorial to be accessible not only to local residents but also to visitors from all backgrounds, we allow to the life, not only continue, but to do it in a dignity and a new civic recognition," declared the FOKAL. The memorial was realized during the year 2011 in the former residence Mangonès, it will welcome residents and all those who want to find a place of meditation in memory of this catastrophe and of those who were affected, it is a highly symbolic monument that serves as a space for reflection, peace, serenity and contemplation. The memorial will be open to the public from Monday, January 16, 2012, before the resumption of some work which will give it its final form. For more information to reach the Memorial, you can call the Parc Martissant office at 28-13-16-95 or get there at the intersection of Route des Dalles and of Martissant 23" specifies the foundation knowledge and freedom. The course of the memorial is that of the ghost imagined by the artist Patrick Vilaire. Its steps and its shadow printed in stone guide the visitor along a path of meditation surrounded by gardens designed by landscape designer Christine Chenet. Facing the bay of Port-au-Prince, the work of Austrian artist Karin Hannak declines in a continuous stream and in several languages a quote from St. Therese of Lisieux: "I understood that Love comprised all vocations, that Love was everything, that it embraced all times and places...in a word, that it was eternal !". Raphaël Girouard realized the lighting design of the course, playing with the shadows of the light of day with those of the moon. In the evening, at a time when day and night mingle for a moment in a clash of colors, the two shadows intersect, in a garden where the memory wants to be living. Several texts formatted by the designer Anik Galvan, guide the imagination of the visitor. On the occasion of this inauguration a ceremony ecumenical, bringing together several religious denominations : christian, voodoo and muslim... was celebrated. HL/ HaitiLibre
