Haiti - Social : Sophia Martelly will launch tomorrow the program «Aba Grangou»
Tomorrow Tuesday, the First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly will officially launch the program "Aba grangou" at the National Palace.
The aim of this program, developed by the government, according to campaign promises of President Michel Martelly, is the implementation of a national strategy to fight against hunger and malnutrition to break the vicious circle of the decrease in food consumption, of the availability of food and the inadequate food utilization.
The First Lady, Sophia Martelly, heavily involved in the program "Aba grangou" committed, as Ambassador, to the construction of a network : government, private sector, international community to eradicate this scourge that is ravaging a good part of the Haitian population.
Last October, during its trip to Brazil, the First Lady had several meetings about this program, including with Marco Farani, inister and Director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), which proposed to make available to Haiti, technical resources as an accompaniment in the development of its strategy to fight against hunger. He had also promised to assist in mobilizing financial resources for the realization of the program "Aba grangou."
In early December 2011, the President Martelly had declared that the program "Aba grangou" would begin in January 2012 with the assistance of 100,000 mothers vulnerable, adding that the Government will benefit from technical assistance from Ecuador and the Economic Commission for Latin America (CEPAL) as part of this program.
