Haiti - Culture : The Minister of Culture announces the budget of Carnival activities 2012 03/02/2012 14:17:45
Pierre Raymond Dumas, the Minister of Culture and Communication met in Parliament, Thursday, February 2, Gracia Delva, the President of the Commission Culture and Communication of the Lower House to discuss the budget and preparations for the Carnival in Haiti.
According to the Minister, on an envelope total of 90 million gourdes (± 2.2 million U.S. dollars) devoted to Carnival activities in Haiti, 30 million gourdes (U.S. $ 730.000 ±) are reserved for the National Carnival to be held this year in the city of Les Cayes from February 19 to 21. Gracia Delva indicated that all arrangements are made in the South department to make this Carnival a cultural event unparalleled.
A success that will depend largely of upport of corporate sponsors, who will have to complete, the largest part of the Carnival budget, whose costs are estimated at more than 100 million gourdes by the municipality.
