Haiti - Diplomacy : Haiti offers his assistance to Congo
As part of the African Union Summit, ending July 16, Mr. Ady Jean Gardy, Minister of Communication and Special Envoy of Haiti, has communicated to the African Union the intention of President Michel Martelly and of Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, to provide immediate assistance as a mediator in the armed conflict between regular forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to the mutineers of M23 in the east and the North of DRC, triggering a wave of refugees deprived of all and affected by serious medical problems.

Mr. Ady Jean Gardy evoked, if the DRC requests it, the possibility for Haiti to send in emergency Haitian doctors of the country or from the diaspora, for a humanitarian mission in the Congo and he told representatives of the African people that the Haitian Presidency is ready to provide assistance in peace negotiations neutrally in order to stop further tragedies in Africa.

The Ministers of several African countries, have supported the mediation offer made ​​by Haiti, and the proposal was forwarded to the Congolese President Joseph Kabila Kabange, to his prime Minister Matata Ponyo and to 6 African Heads of State who have, moreover, been invited to come to Haiti.

The Special Envoy of Haiti has concluded his speech by recalling that the President Martelly and his Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, are "determined to participate in the struggle to end conflicts in the world, and particularly on the African motherland."
