Haiti - Diplomacy : Jean Gardy Ady successfully completes his African tour 19/07/2012 11:50:36

Mr. Ady Jean Gardy, the Minister of Communications and Special Envoy to Haiti in the 19th African Union Summit held in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) from 9 to 16 July 2012, completed his African tour after having met most of Ministers of Communication of the African continent and laid the foundations of a open cooperation on permanent exchange with Haiti within the framework of the presence of our country in the African Union.
The Minister stated that he successfully accomplished the mission, entrusted to him by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe summarizing the significant results that he was able to obtain :
- Closer considerably Haiti of the new Presidency of the African Union, assumed by Ms. Nkosazama Diamini Zuma [South Africa], elected two days ago and who promised to support the struggle of Haiti in its reconstruction ;
- Receive of the outgoing President, Mr. Ping [Gabon], the insurance to make initiate, at the request of Haiti, a motion of Amendment of the Constitution of the African Union in order to recognize the independent states of the African Diaspora, as full members to finally surpass the status of Observer Member ;
- Impose the leadership of Haiti for the preparation of the next Conference of Heads of States black and Francophone, this October in Kinshasa, around the International Organisation of Francophonie (OIF) by requiring the active participation of Haitian Head of State, to this summit, so that he can define the Haitian vision of global governance ;
- Make accept the offer of Haiti to play, without delay, a role of mediation of peace in the conflict between the regular forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the mutineers of M23 [...] ;
- Finally, the Minister of Communication Mr. Ady Jean Gardy engaged, as part of the new philosophy of communication of the country, talks with the African Development Bank (ADB) and also with representatives of Saudi Arabia, which promised to create partnerships in the field of communication with Haiti, through the African Union, while as Observer, Kuwait said it was prepared to provide nearly $100 million in programs for food security in Haiti.
Several African Heads of State: Togo, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, Djibouti, Uganda, Congo, Nigeria , Benin and South Africa, have expressed the desire to visit Haiti, following an invitation by Minister Jean Gardy, who, in accordance with the wishes of the Government Martelly-Lamothe, has promised the assistance of Haiti to Africa in many areas of expertise.
"The priority for Haiti today is to recover while helping others to recover with dignity, as in the days of our independence," concluded Ady Jean Gardy before leaving Addis Ababa and return to Haïti.
