At 5 days of the Carnival of Flowers, which will take place on 29, 30 and 31 July, workers work to finish the construction of stands on the Champs de Mars. Josette Darguste, Vice President of Carnival, announces that the 'bal des reines' will be held July 27, 2012 at the Hotel Karibe. About 5,000 policemen will be mobilized to ensure the safety of the public during this event. "[...] The site of the Carnival is being rehabilitated to host the festivities, students of ENARTS already working on the decoration of the streets [...] of musical floats, the costumes are being finalized, the musical groups are selected and confirmed, and almost all spaces in the Champ de Mars, are already sold," informed Mrs. Darguste.

The President Michel Martelly, decided by order dated June 28, 2012 and after deliberation in Council of Ministers, the following :

Article 1. - Are declared holidays and nonworking for the festivities of the Carnival of Flowers :

1. The day of Monday, July 30, 2012, from noon ;

2. The day of Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in its entirety.

The Office of Communication of the Presidency wishes to clarify that public services, schools, commerce and industry will not work in accordance with Article 1 and wish to all, a happy Carnival of Flowers.
