Haiti - Politic : Council of Government, details of announcements in the Social Sector (I)
The Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, who led the 5th Council of Government held this Wednesday, August 8, at administrative complex of Les Cayes, said he was satisfied with the smooth running of this meeting and of the renewed commitment of the various members of his administration . We selected for you the important details of this Council and more specifically in this first article, the governmental actions in the social sector.

SOCIAL SECTOR :
Several Directors General attended the Council of Government whose Mr. Donald Paraison of Metropolitan Service of Solid Waste Collection (SMCRS), who announced the imminent creation of over 10,000 jobs, including 1,500 in the South in the poorest neighborhoods.

Mr. Klaus Eberwein, Director of Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) announced the launch of 14 new projects in the South, including the construction of social housing, new schools and massive aid to disadvantaged mothers under the humanitarian program "Ti Manman Cheri" on the occasion of the next reopening of classes. The Prime Minister recalled that such a program also exists in Mexico (18 million beneficiaries), Ecuador (7 million beneficiaries), Brazil, Dominican Republic, etc...)

Mr. Klaus Eberwein then announced in the South, the financing of projects for more than 12 million dollars covering among other : Irrigation, Health Centres to fight against cholera in 12 municipalities, high schools (such as that of St Jean du Sud, to Débouchette or that of Chardonnieres, lycée Charles Lassegue).

Mrs. Yannick Mezile, the Minister for the Status of Women, announced on her side, a set of projects including : the construction of a Shelter for women victims of domestic violence in the South, the production of work on gender issues, the establishment of a legal direction, the funding of credit programs for women and accompanying projects with the support of the USA (Oakland County) or of Brazil.

Mrs. Josefa Gauthier Raymond, the Minister of Social Affairs announced : the training of 50 young people at the artisanal level (micro enterprises), the construction of 102 housing units of 38 square meters and the construction of the Hospital of the Office of Workers' Compensation Insurance, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) in the South, which will cost U.S. $ 3 million, resulting in one hundred jobs in the sector, the creation of 300 direct jobs in the tourism sector and the the supervision of children of South in difficult situations.

Florence Duperval Guillaume, the Minister of Public Health and Population has announced the reorganization of emergency services of the General Hospital of Les Cayes (often flooded) and its project of construction of another Departmental Hospital. She also intends add to the Regional Laboratory of Health a national school of medical technology, build the dispensary in St Martin to St Jean du Sud and a Health Centre with beds in Tiburon. Finally, she wants to inaugurate a Blood Transfusion Centre with the support of the Central Bank in the region.
