Haiti - Justice : Clifford Brandt transferred into the new prison of Croix-des-Bouquets 06/11/2012 11:01:38 It is good to clarify for our readers, that this transfer is not at all related to a privilege due to the belonging of Clifford Brandt, to a wealthy Haitian family, but it is the duty of justice, to ensure, during the arrest of alleged bullies, of their protection, to avoid a reckoning in a penitentiary, which would deprive the justice of testimonies and informations essential to the dismantling of an large network of criminals. A procedure of protection of important defendants, which is not exceptional and which is commonly applied in most democratic countries. On the other hand, the Government Commissioner has indicated "[...] We do not yet know which judge is seized of the case, but one thing is certain, is that at the level of Parquet, we did what we had to do from a requisition [...] files are at the Cabinet of instruction since last week [...] the files are no longer in our hands. This is the investigation that will reveal at what level these people are involved [...] us, we are not investigators, that's why we send the files to the Cabinet of instruction. Our role as head of the prosecution is to stop the offender, bandits, criminal [...] and to refer them to the Cabinet of instruction, for further investigation and see the degree of culpability of the individuals [...] whatever the importance of the individual, are social status, social origin, I do not need to know, a kidnapper remains a kidnapper, a criminal remains a criminal [...] Police continue to search for all the people who are linked near or far, in this case [...] we ask the cooperation of all citizens, to show solidarity with us, because the State does not have eyes everywhere [...] We will crack with extreme rigor against those who prevent people from attending their business in peace [...] the unacceptable can not be defended [...]" Moreover, we learn in this case, that an employee of the Directorate of Logistics of CEP was arrested Saturday by members of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ). This person is suspected of having in his possession a vehicle linked to the alleged gang of Clifford Brandt, which would have been used to transport abductees.
