Haiti - Social : The sidewalks of Petion-ville will remain without merchants 02/02/2013 10:48:06 That they are reassured, Yvanka Brutus, the Mayor of Petion-ville stated that this measure was permanent and that the merchants will no longer occupy the sidewalks of the city in the future. To this end, she indicated that 80 brigadiers, temporarily supported by the National Police of Haiti, already patrol the streets of Petion-ville to ensure that the merchant did not return to settle on the sidewalks. The staff of the municipal team, responsible for make respect the law and order, will be soon increased to 300. The Mayor clarified that those who try to resettled on the sidewalks will be arrested and their goods seized adding that some markets of Petion-ville will be rehabilitated to provide better access to both merchant and consumers.
