Haiti - Politic : President Martelly expect a letter from the CSPJ to intervene

Since several months, the members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) continues to seek a solution to try to obtain the resignation of 3 first representatives of the CSPJ [Patrick Métellus, Yves Benoit Jean-Marie and Salnave Exantus], installed by presidential decree to the Permanent Electoral Council (CEP) [for 10 years] following an election contested, July 24, 2012. A crisis, which resulted, October 9, 2012, to the election of 3 new representatives of the CSPJ [Léopold Belanger, Applys Félix and Mrs. Marie Carole Floréal Duclervil].

Faced with this unprecedented situation still unresolved [the CSPJ has 6 representatives], the President Martelly declared on the sidelines of his meeting with the European deputy "[...] The question of the CSPJ, should be resolved shortly, since I've already asked twice to the President of the Court of Cassation [Me Anel Alexis Joseph, who is also President of the CSPJ], to send me a letter in which he admitted his inability to resolve this situation within the CSPJ, so that the Executive can assist in resolving this crisis.

The Executive respects the independence of the judiciary, so it did not intervene to date, to ask anything at this level. But once the President of the Court of Cassation, will make such a letter to the Executive, which is responsible to ensure that the institutions function, the executive will feel at that time comfortable to intervene and help resolve the crisis."
