Haiti - Economy : Index of consumer prices April 2013

The level of the General Index of Consumer Prices (base 100 in August 2004), increased in April compared to the previous month, from 206.8 to 207.5, a monthly increase of 0.3%. This indicates a slower rate of growth compared to the monthly variation of 0.6% of the previous month. Compared to last year, the annualized inflation also slowed in April 2013 with a YoY 7.3% against 7.7% the previous month.

This slight monthly increase of 0.3% comes from almost all functions of consumption: "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" (+0.5%), "Clothing, Textiles and Footwear" (+0.4%), "Management, equipment maintenance of housing" and "Health" (+0.2%)," Other Goods and Services "(+0.4%), (Other Goods and Services "(+0.4%).

Among the products that have most influenced the increase in the index "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" include: rice (+0.2%), millet (+0.5%), corn in grain (+2.4%), ground corn (+1.0%), bread (+0.7% ), eggs (+0.8%), the fungus (+2.3%), sweet potatoes (+2.2%), potatoes (+3.2%), the real tree (+3.4%), orange (+1.8%), the chadèque (+3.4%) and lemon (+6.1%).

For the index "Clothing, Textiles and Footwear" the tissue (+0.8%), pants for men (+0.9%), underpants (+0.4%) and dress (+0.9%) are mainly at the base of the increase of this index.
