Haiti - Economy : Laurent Lamothe wants to create thousands of jobs in Haiti 24/05/2013 10:24:50
Thursday for its fourth day of official visit to Brazil, the Prime Minister, who wants to create thousands of jobs in Haiti through the Haitian textile industry, along with Haitian businessmen among others : Clifford Apaid (Industries Apaid), Henri-Claude Poitevien (CTMO-Hope) and Bernard Schettini (SONAPI), met Paulo Skaf, President of the "Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo" (FIESP) [the largest Federation of Brazilian companies], with whom he had very promising exchanges. For the President of the Federation of Industries of Sao Paulo, Haiti could become a platform for the Brazilian textile industry. Mr. Skaf was pleased that through the HOPE Act, Brazilian companies operating in the textile sector could reap huge benefits from settling to Haiti. At a time when the relations of cooperation between Haiti and Brazil are excellent, the Prime Minister Lamothe believes that it is fundamental for his Government to multiply the initiatives to attract Brazilian investors in the country to create thousands of jobs in Haiti, in favor of the population.
Moreover, Laurent Lamothe and Paulo Skaf, agreed of the visit in July on a mission composed of 8 Brazilian companies within the framework of follow-up of discussions of this meeting. In the afternoon the Head of Government went to Rio de Janeiro to complete his official visit to Brazil.
