Haiti - Politic : Positive work of Prime Minister Lamothe in Davos 26/01/2014 09:49:51 The Prime Minister has thus met with former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown with whom he discussed opportunities to develop partnerships in training and modernization of public governance. The discussions, however, were focused on education, one of the priorities of the Haitian government policy. Friday, on the sidelines of the presentation by the Prime Minister, to the investment panel on Haiti, formal promises in terms of support to the Universal Schooling Program Free and Compulsory (PSUGO) and the National Social Assistance plan "Ede-Pèp" were made by interlocutors among which the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has pledged U.S. $ 18 million to strengthen the social projects of the Government, including mobile canteens. The Chief of the Haitian Government also met Matthieu Pigasse and Michèle Lamarche (of the Franco-American investment bank Lazard) and multi billionaire philanthropist George Soros, of personalities of international finance, to expose them various opportunities offered by Haiti but also the numerous measures taken by his Government to facilitate and secure investments in the country. The meeting with George Soros focused on the improvement of the overall situation in Haiti and on the possibilities for the latter, outside assistance to charities, come invest primarily in Haiti and create jobs. To this end, the philanthropist promised Prime Minister Lamothe, to quickly accomplish a mission in Port-au-Prince. In addition, the Chief of the Haitian Government, in its desire to stimulate its fight against extreme poverty, had a fruitful working session with the Nobel Peace Prize 2006, Muhammad Yunus, known as the economist of the poor in order to improve its policy of promoting small and medium enterprises, which are essential to economic growth and the eradication of poverty in Haiti. During these discussions with the CEO of Nestlé, the Belgian Paul Bulcke and Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Interamerican Development Bank, the Prime Minister presented business opportunities in the field of agro-industry, to attract foreign capital in the economy. After his participation in the 44th edition of the Davos Forum Prime Minister Lamothe has to go to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), where he will attend from January 30 to 31, at the 22nd Ordinary Session of the Summit of the African Union, always within the framework of its research of opportunities for Haiti.
