Haiti - Politic : 2nd meeting with Dominican...

In accordance with what has been agreed between the Haitian and Dominican authorities in the first bilateral dialogue held at the headquarters of the "Compagnie de Développement Industriel" (Codevi) n Ouanaminthe (North-East of Haiti) January 7, 2014, this Monday, February 3, will be held in Jimani, in the Dominican Republic, the second meeting of the "Ad hoc" joint commission between the Haitian and Dominican authorities.

At today's meeting will be discussed among other things, responses to requests that the two countries have made ​​at the first meeting of 7 January. It will also, during these discussions, to find acceptable solutions to various problems that concern the authorities of both Republics (migration, trade, border security and the regularization of binational markets) and more specifically on the different under the judgment TC168-13, of the Dominican Constitutional Court, which confirms the conditions for obtaining Dominican nationality.

The Commission will be chaired by Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, the Commission is composed of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pierre Richard Casimir, the Minister of Commerce, Wilson Laleau, the Minister of the Interior, David Basile and economist Nesmy Manigat.

The Dominican Commission will be chaired by Gustavo Montalvo, the Minister of the Presidency, the Minister of Interior and Police, Jose Ramon Fadul, the Minister of Trade and Industry, José del Castillo, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, acting Chancellor , José Manuel Trullols and legal Consultant of the Executive, César Pina Toribio.

In accordance with the agreement reached between the authorities of the two countries, December 17, 2013 at the Petrocaribe summit in Caracas (Venezuela) under the mediation of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduros, it was also agreed between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, that representatives of the European Union, Venezuela, CARICOM, the United Nations and a member of the Haitian private sector, Ms. Norma Powell, will be present as observers at these monthly meetings, which will take place every first Monday of the month throughout the year.
