Haiti - Denationalisation : Towards the resumption of dialogue
Tuesday on the sidelines of the 9th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA-TCP-Petrocaribe), which was held in Caracas, Venezuela, on 16 and 17 December 2013, the President Michel Martelly and his Dominican counterpart Danilo Medina met in a cordial atmosphere under the auspices of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro on the need to restore the dialogue.

Both countries are committed to creating a high-level Joint Commission, composed of 10 representatives (5 on each side) to prepare a working agenda and invited the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the United Nations, the European Union European and CARICOM to assist them in this process of dialogue.

The Commission will discuss issues of common concern to both countries, such as migration, trade, border security and environmental issues on which the two countries have differences.

Following the announcement of the creation of this Commission by the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina declared "We can not separate us and conjunctural problems that arise must be resolved at the negotiating table where everyone will have to make sacrifices in order to move forward," thanking the President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe for their efforts
to ensure that the two governments will gather once again around the table.

Recall that the first agreement was signed dialogue on November 19 between the two neighboring republics through mediation of Venezuela https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9948-haiti-denationalisation-the-dialogue-only-way-for-reasonable-solution.html After the decision of the CARICOM, November 26, to suspend the application for membership of the Dominican Republic within the organization https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9959-haiti-denationalisation-statement-of-the-caricom-on-the-dominican-decision.html and the statement of the President Martelly on the judgment of the Constitutional Court Dominican https://www.haitilibre.com/article-9966-haiti-denationalisation-position-du-gouvernement-haitien-discours.html (in french) ;
