The final balance sheet of the National Carnival which brought in Gonaives, for 3 days (2, 3 and 4 March), hundreds of thousands of revelers, specifies that this year, no victim was deplored on the path of Carnival.

However, during these three fat days, 453 minor injuries for various reasons, were cared including 151 on the stand of the First Lady Sophia Martelly.

The inspector Eddit Techler Sylvain, Spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) reported that during this festivity, 49 people were arrested for various offenses and referred to the Court of First Instance of Gonaïves. 12 people were released after examination of their case.

During this period, 3 cases of rape were reported (outside the carnival route).

Moreover, a person died on Sunday, victim of a traffic accident and a woman also succumbed in the hospital for alcohol abuse. For its part, the Red Cross reported that thirty people were injured and dozens were killed in traffic accidents on the National Road #1.

Aussi selon nos sources, sur le stand présidentiel, un cousin du Président de la République, Lesly "big" Martelly, a été victime d'un malaise, puis a été transporté par hélicoptère à l'hôpital du Canapé Vert, où son décès a été constaté.
