Haiti - Education : Selection test for 100 scholarships in Mexico

Monday, as part of the Haitian-Mexican cooperation aimed at strengthening higher education in Haiti, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by the Ambassador of Mexico in Haiti, José Luis Alvarado, went to the Lycée du Cent-Cinquantenaire, where nearly 500 candidates from 10 departments passed the selection test aiming at selecting the best 100 students who will receive scholarships to continue their studies during 4 years in Mexico, in various fields. These scholarships are awarded in accordance with the Agreement of 27 November 2012 on the granting of 300 Graduate Scholarships [up to 125 in 2013 to 100 in 2014 and 75 in 2015], offered by Mexico https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10968-haiti-education-100-university-scholarships-for-mexico.html

More determined than ever to strengthen education at all levels, the Prime Minister did not hide his preference for quality and excellence "We want to encourage young. This is the reason that explains the pre-selection of the best students who will study in Mexico. 100 of them who come to compete at Lycée today have the chance to study for four years in Mexico [...] These young Haitians who go to study in Mexico is an excellent opportunity for the country," stressing "We have a serious problem of human capital to solve."

For its part, the Mexican Ambassador in Haiti, has renewed his country's commitment to Haiti "We will continue with this program, because education is the key to development of a country."
