Lener Renaud, the Minister of Defence indicated that following the decree (# 206) adopted by the Council of Ministers on 9 October, published in the official journal Monitor on October 26, the remobilization process of Army Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) had entered its administrative phase. He says this new modern army, will turn its back on repression.

He explained that having an army was not intended to compete against anyone, adding that Haiti needs people able to study and plan on defense, but he stressed the need to be ready when it comes to protecting our borders or to serve the country in case of major natural hazards.

The Armed Forces of Haiti, currently have 4 lines and 36 men (a battalion) stationed in Gressier and Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite. However, the Minister Renaud indicated that these numbers will be increased and that there was no question of waiting for the international aid because Haiti must be able to assume its responsibilities.
