Haiti - FLASH : Danilo Medina grants one year more to 140,000 Haitians 13/07/2016 09:40:15
José Ramón Fadul, the Dominican Minister of Interior and of the police announced that the Dominican President Danilo Medina gave his agreement for the extension (without charge for beneficiaries) of the temporary migratory regularization card for a one-year term (maturing between 17 July and December 2016) given to nearly 143,000 foreigners (98% of Haitian) registered to the National Plan for Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) and whose registered applicants without passports have not been able to complete all the documents required for one reason or another.
José Ramón Fadul explained that this measure was decided to reflect on the one hand the economic difficulties of most Haitians (renewal fee of 14,000 pesos - ± $ 300) which will have the time to find this amount or to do subsidize it by Haiti and other hand, because of the difficulties of the Haitian authorities to issue to its nationals the identification documents required by the PNRE, including a passport requirement, although many Haitians have paid thousand pesos per person to their government for such documents https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17947-haiti-flash-140-000-haitians-facing-deportation-because-of-the-inaction-of-haiti.html
He said that this measure is the best, to give a last chance and the time required to Haitian migrants to complete their documents. Recall that when this new deadline wil end, Haitian migrants registered in PNRE, will have to renew their card, that is to say filing all documents missing in their file, including a passport, a certificate of no criminal record, undergo a medical examination and make a payment of 14,000 pesos. All applicants with a complete dossier should be renewed, the other will enter a process of deportation to Haiti.
