Following the earthquake of October 6, Food For the Poor Haiti (FFP) immediately mobilize its network. A few hours after the tragedy, its executives were already in contact with the community and religious leaders of the North West and Artibonite departments, the local elected officials and the Haitian government, to assess the extent of the damage and arrive at a coherent strategy to help the victims.

As early as Sunday morning, in agreement with the Government of Haiti, the FFP teams were deployed on the scene.

First relief was immediately delivered to the population through the FFP network from pre-positioned reserves in the event of hurricanes in Artibonite, North and North-West.

A substantial stock of medicines was sent to supply the Alma Mater Hospital of the Catholic Church in Gros Morne, the Beraca Hospital of the Evangelical Baptist Union of Haiti at the Pointe des Palmistes and the Immaculate Hospital in Port de Paix.

A batch of medical equipment and medicines was donated to the Ministry of Public Health, which, through the North West Health District Directorate, benefited other hospitals in the region.

Food and hygiene kits were sent to the department of Artibonite in Gros Morne. They will be distributed to the Episcopal parishes of the Good Samaritan and the Resurrection, to the Catholic parishes of Candlemas and Guadalupe, to the Assembly of God Church, to the Peniel and Bethel Baptist Churches, and to the Association of Gros Morne Vodouisants.

Food was deployed in the northern department to the parishes of Saint Michael and Tous les Anges and Saint Albert Le Grand de Pilate.

Food is on its way to supply the Parishes of Saints Innocents of Port de Paix and Saint Aidant de l’Ile de La Tortue.
