Haiti - Justice : Victims of the Duvalier regime seeking help from the International
A group of victims that seeks to bring to justice the former Haitian President Jean-Claude Duvalier, on Monday urged the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR) the support of the international community "Without international help, we will not have the chance to see our efforts rewarded for justice to be applied" declared the journalist Michèle Montas, a victim that attempt to get the appearances of "Baby Doc".

The IACHR, whose its headquarters is in Washington, held a hearing on Monday to hear some of the victims of the regime of Jean-Claude Duvalier, (1971-1986). "The legal aid from the international community is needed if we really want Duvalier, be judged" admitted the director general of the Ministry of Justice and Security, André Antoine, Haitian state representative during the hearing.

Jean-Claude Duvalier, was hospitalized last week in the hospital of Canapé-Vert in Haïti, where he has been the subject of a "house arrest". Note concerning this subject that the appeal of this decision, by Me Reynold Georges, one of the lawyers of Jean-Claude Duvalier, suspend all the effects of this assignment until the decision of the Court of appeal. Me George recalled that the "house arrest" is a legal concept derived from French law, but which is the object of no legislation in Haiti.
