Haiti - Politic : Venezuela, new vote of Haiti against the legitimacy of President Maduro 11/04/2019 15:37:06
Tuesday at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS), the resolution, presented the day before by Colombia, requesting the appointment of Gustavo Tarre, as Permanent Representative appointed by the National Assembly of Venezuela self-proclaimed President Juan Guaido "until new elections are held and the appointment of a democratically elected government," states the resolution adopted by a simple majority of OAS member states. 18 votes for : Argentina, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Haiti , Peru, Dominican Republic and Saint Lucia; 9 against : Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Dominica, Grenada, Mexico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela; 6 abstentions : Barbados, El Salvador, Guyana, Nicaragua, St. Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago and Belize (absent). Asbina Marin, Nicolás Maduro's Representative to the OAS, reacted strongly by accusing the hemispheric Organization of supporting a coup. A situation that does not simplify the situation, Venezuela having now 2 representatives... Wednesday Ambassador Gustavo Tarre, presented his credentials to Secretary General Luis Almagro at the OAS headquarters in Washington and said "Tuesday the usurpation ended with regard to the President of Venezuela, we are now going working for a transitional government and free elections."
