The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) published late in the night [after many hours of delay without explanation] the final results of the second round of presidential and legislative elections. Michel Martelly unsurprisingly, was declared the winner [unchallenged] of the presidential, with 716,986 votes (67.57%).

Reacting to the confirmation of his presidency during his first press conference at the prestigious National Press Club in Washington, Michel Martelly already endorsing the official function, black suit and red tie, smiling, he addressed to an audience acquired declaring "This is my first visit abroad as president-elect, let me tell you that this is a very productive visit".

Although having only three deputies elected of his party (Repons Peyizan), Michel Martelly does not show concern for the good governance of the country, he wished to clarify "for me, that does not have importance because I will have the following approach [...] We have the mandate to serve the Haitian people [...] It should be done in collaboration" a statement all the more easy, as most major political forces (INITE, Alternative, Lavni among others ...) have already pledged allegiance and are now on the side of the new President to govern with one voice in the interest of the nation and help Michel Martelly to achieve the objectives of its program.

Michel Martelly who will succeed to René Préval on May 14 has launched an appeal to its countrymen to work. On his Twitter account, the new President declared "Let us take our tools to clean the country, let us begin to work" adding "I tell you that the confidence that you have placed in me is not misplaced. I have confidence in you, trust me" to conclude on a "Haitian people at work !"
