A Haitian-American woman North Miami Police Chief

Friday, August 18, 2023, Cherise Gause (50), whose 30-year career in the police force, was sworn in before taking up her duties as Chief of Police for the city of North Miami (FL). She is the fourth woman to hold this position but the first American of Haitian origin to hold this position in the city of North Miami.

The Kenyan Delegation expected in Haiti

The delegation of Kenyan officers is expected this Sunday, August 20, 2023 in Port-au-Prince to carry out an assessment mission on the ground. This mission, led by Deputy Inspector General of Administrative Police Noor Gabow, will meet with Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, Defense Minister Enold Joseph, among others. The duration of this evaluation mission is not known. A delegation of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) will welcome them at the diplomatic lounge of Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

Date of State Nursing Examinations

According to the Department of Training and Improvement in Health Sciences of the Ministry of Public Health, the State examinations in Nursing Sciences are set for September 3, 2023, 3,067 candidates will take part in these tests.

Inauguration of 3 new schools

The organization Compassion International inaugurated this week three school buildings in the commune of Asile, department of Nippes. The construction of these brand new buildings took 18 months. Distribution of high quality rice seeds

In collaboration with the "Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief", the Technical Mission of Taiwan (Republic of China) in Haiti has begun the distribution of high quality rice seeds (variety M8) to farmers in the plain of Les Cayes and the commune by Chantal. "Thanks to these quality seeds and the efforts of the farmers, we hope to obtain good harvests for the second rice production campaign."

France has increased its humanitarian aid

France has increased its humanitarian aid by 9 million euros to Haiti. 5.5 million of this amount is devoted to food aid. This humanitarian aid goes through the United Nations system, mainly the World Food Program (WFP), then NGOs, such as International Solidarity (SI), Handicap International (HI) and the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED).
