The last Sunday of May each year is dedicated to Mother's Day here. But whatever date is chosen, a mother remains the most precious being in the existence of any human being. His unconditional love and deep devotion are irreplaceable. The psychological aftereffects are still visible in people who grew up without the affection of a mother. For this reason, Mother's Day is also an opportunity to honor adoptive mothers. They are heroines who are not lacking no room in their hearts for love, and who deserve all the gratification they get in return. They are mothers in their own right. I wish the best of days to all of you who have so graciously welcomed me into your homes. homes. We cannot talk about Haitian mothers without taking into account the conditions in which almost all of them struggle to take care of their children. Caring for children is almost exclusively a maternal responsibility in our country. For the slightest little injury or the slightest fear, we seek help from mom. The latter is never too busy or too tired to listen to us and reassure us. We are, moreover, never too old to benefit from his advice or take refuge in his fortitude. In a merciless context, clearly conducive to discouragement or even abandonment, the Haitian mother will attach herself to her difficult maternal duties as if her salvation depended on it. In fact, that's what she firmly believes, and she's absolutely right to believe it. This attachment, this devotion, this loyalty is also reproduced in her children when the time comes to take care of her. Throughout her life, she has been the nurse, the teacher, the referee, the psychologist and more. So at home, when mom reaches the twilight of her life, when she needs to be taken care of, her children are always proud to take care of her. She remains queen. This is one of the differences between life here and that of industrialized countries. We owe this difference to the unconditional love of Haitian mothers. The Haitian mother is far from being the weak link in the home. She is simply irreplaceable. I respectfully bow to wish all the mothers in my country a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY."
