Leslie Voltaire at the airport's diplomatic lounge, spoke to the press to take stock of his trip that began on January 25. He also met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See to discuss issues of insecurity and hunger in the country. President Voltaire took the opportunity to place an image of "Our Lady of Perpetual Help" patron saint of Haiti, in the Vatican gardens. In his prayer, he also asked the Virgin to help the country find salvation from gangs and weapons. The French President raised the issue of the Independence debt, and promised to speak again on this issue on April 17, 2025, which will mark 200 years since King Charles X decided to make Haiti pay to recognize its independence. The Organization will also support Haitian public media in preparation for the upcoming referendum and elections, to ensure inclusive debate and information accessible to all.
