Haiti - Tourism : Packages Transat, the tourists satisfied at 90%
Monday at the Hotel Montana, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, met nearly 26 operators concerned by the packages of Canadian tour operator Transat. This working session was an opportunity for the Ministry to review the first 6 months of partnership with Transat and disclose the results of a survey of the Ministry among travelers of this package [without specifying the sample size...], the Minister stated among other things that 90% of respondents said they were completely satisfied, 75% appreciated the Haitian cuisine and the vast majority were willing to share their experiences with their families and were considering returning to Haiti. Stressing that 90% of tourists had expressed the wish to have more cultural performances including voodoo, the Minister promised to develop these aspects to meet the expectations of visitors.

After the balance sheet presentation, by Ms Pascale Hilaire, developer of the Haitian tourism market for Canada, the main operators have submitted their proposals and complaints to the officials of the Ministry.

The Minister took advantage of this meeting to unveil the new perspectives of the Ministry of Tourism in term of promotion of the destination for summer 2013 and winter 2013-2014 and announced soon, the launch of package Transat Holidays USA on Haiti, which will facilitate, among others, the arrival in Haiti, of members of the Haitian diaspora residing in the United States.

Tuesday, as part of the follow up of the recent visit of the Minister Villedouin in Brazil, around a cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and the National Service of Commercial Learning (SENAC) in the area of ​​training, the Minister met with Ms. Aurélie Gilles of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) and Ms. Uliane of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC). Discussions focused on the possibility for ABC, to finance a cooperation between SENAC and the Ministry of Tourism in various training projects, including the construction of a new hotel school in Port-au-Prince and a technical assistance of the institution for the development of the school hotel of Port-Salut.

Finally, the Minister Willedrouin presented the project "Destination Jacmel" to Mr. Joe William, a specialist of the restoration in New Orleans interested in this destination.
