Since the beginning of operations of Program of Identification and Documentation of Haitian Immigrants (PIDIH) to Santo Domingo on July 21, more than 6,000 Haitians have registered in the program, which, allow against a payment of 1,000 pesos to get : an extract of birth certificate, a national identification card and passport, allowing them to participate in the regulation plan for foreigners, set up by the Dominican authorities.

This PIDIH is an ambitious project that aims to identify and document in 10 months, more than 300,000 Haitian living illegally in Dominican territory. The implementation of this program is a duty of the Haitian state towards all its citizens, whether inside the country or outside, and secondly, to honor a commitment made in the context of high-level dialogue with the Dominican Republic.

In the coming days, the project will expand to other cities of the neighboring Republic to ensure that all our undocumented expatriates will be taken into account.
