Haiti - Economy : Metrology, an essential tool in commercial exchanges

Michèle B. Paultre, the Director of the Haitian Bureau of Standards (BHN) has highlighted the importance of measuring instruments that must help determine accurately the quantities evaluated in any sector, whether in the markets, gas stations, hospitals, testing laboratories and industries. "It is essential to be sure that the weighing machines, meters and other measuring instruments used in the country comply with international standards and reassure the consumer." She also said that the awareness and training in the fields of metrology should be promoted so that the entities concerned are able to provide the competent national services for the calibration and verification of measuring instruments, control and test.
