Haiti - OG «Lausanne 2020» : A 17-year-old Haitian skier qualified for the Winter Olympic Games
The young Haitian Ski Federation (FHS) announces that the young Haitian international skier Mackenson Florindo (17) native of Verrettes (Artibonite) will wear the colors of Haiti at the Lausanne 2020 Winter Olympics in Switzerland which will take place from 9 to January 14, 2020.

For Jean-Pierre Roy, the first Haitian to participate in World Ski Championships and Founding President of the Haitian Ski Federation, nicknamed "Rasta Piquet" by the media in similarity to the story of the film "Rasta Rocket", is well aware that Haiti will still be far from the podium this time, but is confident in the coming youth and that this is only the beginning on the road to victory...

Note that the Giant Slalom and the Slalom are the specialties of Mackenson Florindo.

In 2002, Mackenson was born into a Haitian family who could not afford to feed and raise him properly. His biological mother dropped him off at the Orphanage Solidarité Fraternité (OSF) which welcomes children from Haiti to get them back in shape for 6 months and find them the prospect of a new start. Mackenson is finally lucky to have this new start and he arrives in France in April 2005 adopted by the Florindo family who lives in the mountains, in the Grenoble region of France. /I>

Born in Port-au-Prince, Jean-Pierre Roy, computer engineer in his fifties who runs an SME of ten employees in the Parisian suburbs, amateur skier, has launched the crazy bet of Founding the Haitian Ski Federation and to participate in the world championship in alpine skiing, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) in February 2011 alongside the older ones, after their qualification in 2010 in Chamonix (Alps, France) and in Val-Thorens (Savoie, France).
