Friday, June 10, 2011, held the Inauguration Ceremony of the "Project of reconstruction of the School Sainte Thérèse" to Papaye, a locality in the city of Hinche in the Department of Centre.

The ceremony took place in presence of the Ambassador of Japan in Haiti, Kentaro Minami, Sister Eumanie Alcide, Regional Manager of the Little Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Sr. Augustana Désané the School Director, Mr. Dénès Metellus the Departmental Director of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training and the Reverend Father Géthro Noel, Coordinator of Catholic Schools.

This funding amounting to nearly USD$100,000, is part of the program of "Assistance to Micro-Local Projects contributing to human security" (APL) of the Japanese government.

Initially, the project took into account that the reconstruction of 3 classrooms. However, given the damage left by hurricanes in recent years, particularly, Hanna and Jeanne, the funding has been allocated, preferably in the construction of 8 new classrooms for the primary section of the establishment .

The funding of this project, allows to accompany the Congregation of Little Sisters of St. Therese of Papaye, a haitian local organization whose objective is "to go into the mountains, where others are not going" and to promote, among other things: literacy, vocational training, education and social promotion.

Japan, once again, demonstrates the reality of its commitment, through its APL Program, which offers financial support flexible, to the NGO's and nonprofit organizations, to assist them in the implementation of local development projects.
