Thursday, July 15 in the afternoon, the President of Colombia Iván Duque speaking on the assassination of his Haitian counterpart Jovenel Moïse declared on a radio in Colombia "[...] according to the information available, everything suggests that a large group of people arrived in Haiti for a supposed protection mission [...] The information that was shared by the Colombian National Police with the Haitian authorities is that it seems that there was among these people, a small group of people who knew about the plot to assassinate the President of Haiti [...] but whatever level of knowledge all these people had, which remains obvious is that there was participation of this whole group in this assassination."

In addition, earlier that same day in the Dominican Republic, representatives of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a meeting with the diplomatic team of Haiti during which they asked to be authorized to carry out a consular visit in Haiti to assess the state of health of Colombian citizens detained in connection with the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34238-haiti-flash-monitoring-of-investigations-into-the-assassination-of-president-jovenel-moise.html

The Colombian Government has insisted on the concern over the state of health of the detained nationals, stressing the need to examine their integrity and assess the conditions in which they are deprived of their liberty, a situation which remains unknown to this day.

In response to this request, the Ambassador of Haiti in the Dominican Republic Jean Mary Exil, affirmed that the captured Colombians were in good health stressing "the mercenaries must be very well protected to avoid any harm to their life" adding "their well-being psychological and physical is essential for the investigations to advance rapidly." Regarding the visit request, Ambassador Exil affirmed that his country had never refused the visit of a Colombian consular mission [although this is not Colombia's first unanswered request] adding that Haiti was willing to receive a Colombian consular mission without specifying a date...

At the end of the press conference, the Ambassador of Haiti Exil declared that currently no legal proceedings had been launched against Colombian citizens, because the investigation is still at the stage of the reconstruction of the facts to identify intellectual authors.
