Tuesday, July 12, the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the "Disaster Relief Foundation" (a Taiwanese NGO) signed in Tapei, (Capital of Taiwan, Republic of China) a Memorandum of Understanding to help the recovery post-earthquake in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34479-haiti-flash-magnitude-72-earthquake-in-the-nippes-updated-10am.html agricultural production, in Les Cayes and in Torbeck, in order to relieve the food shortage in this region.

Under this protocol, the Foundation will contribute US$500,000 over a period of one year to help Haiti (one of Taiwan's diplomatic allies) develop its rice production and alleviate the food shortage crisis, collaboration with the Haitian Ministry of Agriculture, said MOFA.

The funds will be used to help Haitian farmers restore rice production and explore sales channels, as ways to create employment opportunities and increase their incomes.

It is the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) through its agricultural technical mission of Taiwan in Haiti, which will implement the plan as part of Taiwan's efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.
