Haiti - Assassination of Moïse : Mario Antonio Palacios pleads guilty

Friday December 22, 2023, former Colombian soldier Mario Antonio Palacios (45 years old) appeared in federal court in Miami (Florida) to change his statement after signing an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office. As part of the deal with prosecutors, he agreed to cooperate with the investigation. Palacios faces life in prison when he is sentenced on March 1st, 2024, but under the deal, prosecutors acknowledged he played a minor role in the plot and did not have the power to make decisions within the group.
After the hearing, his lawyer, Alfredo Izaguirre, described Palacios as just an escort and hoped he could avoid life in prison, the maximum sentence he faces.
