Haiti - Politic : The Bicameral Commission extended by 5 days but...
This week, 11 of 17 commissioners of the Bicameral Commission responsible for appointing the 3 representatives of the legislative power, to serve on the College Transitional of Permanent Electoral Council (CTCEP), responsible for organizing the next election, wrote to the Presidents of the two Houses to request an extension of 5 days, to the initial period of 10 days. Tholbert Jean Alexis, President of the Lower House, has reminded the Commissioners of Commission, that the new deadline expired, Monday, March 4 at midnight "[...] myself, with the President of the Senate, Simon Dieuseul Desras, we agreed to grant an extension until Monday midnight. Given that there were two senators who signed Andrys Riché and Wencesclas Lambert and od deputies, we gave an extension to allow more consultation [...]"

With this extension, many may believe that the Commission will finally be able to concentrate on its work, but nothing is less sure, and the Deputy Danton Léger, Recording Secretary, which resigned from the bureau of the Commission, already challenging how the calculation of days was done.

For the Deputy Danton, without further delay, the Commission is always within the deadline "[...] When the President [of the House] speaks of 5 ordinary days, he lies to himself. In frank time, the first day we receive the mission, it is not counted, the last day does not count Saturday, Sunday and holidays do not count either.

At the moment I speak to you, normally the Commission is within the deadline to render its report. The 5 days mentioned by the President Tholbert, are 5 days that are added to the time remaining to us. In principle, Monday, our normal deadline will end, and from Monday we will start counting the other 5 days, we were awarded..."
