Haiti - Agriculture : The Pro Huerta program will expand in Haiti
As part of Argentina-Haiti Exchange Pro Huerta program, Alicia Kirchner, Minister of Social Development of Argentina, with the authorities of the INTA (Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria), of Carlos Casamiquela, Francisco Anglesio, Elisha Monti, respectively President, Vice President and National Director of INTA and Veronica Pinero, national coordinator of the Pro Huerta program met a delegation of Haiti led by Jean Robert Brutus, National Executive Director of program "Aba Grangou" ; Joseline Marhone Pierre, Director of Nutrition of the Ministry of Public Health of Haiti ; Monique Margareth, Delegate of the Ministry of Education in Haiti and Yvone Labissiere, Advisor to the Directorate for Nutrition.

"The objectives that seem impossible with the work and effort may be possible," declared the Minister Kirchner, who received the Haitian delegation. "We will continue to support Haiti in the transformation of their reality" under the new component of the Pro Huerta program "Family and Nutrition".

According to the President of INTA, Carlos Casamiquela, Haitian authorities now clearly see the Pro Huerta program, in which INTA provides technical support as a source more than important for the nutrition of the population. Casamiquela has detailed what has been highlighted by the Argentine experience in this program, pointing out that food security and social growth were part of these projects.

Moreover, Daniel Diaz, of the Management of technical assistance from international missions INTA, said that "began a new phase for the Pro Huerta Haiti, this time, with the financial support of the Union of Nations South America (UNASUR), that will allow to expand areas of influence in this country [...] Currently, Pro Huerta Haiti, developing experiences in farms and poultry and works extensively on the issue of water from wells and tanks. In addition, there are 10 groups that produce their own seeds locally and have been trained in the assembly of appropriate tools for small farmers to produce their own food." These groups work together with CIPAF (Centro de Investigación para la Pequeña Agricultura Familiar).

Have also attended this meeting, Liliana Periotti, Under Secretary for Food Policy, Maria Liliana Gamarra, Coordinator of the National Training Plan for Food Security (PNSA) and Jorge Cirigliano, Special Projects Coordinator and of the nternational Cooperation of PNSA.
