Haiti - FLASH : The future of Parliament, in the hands of the deputies 01/06/2019 09:34:00
While the Senate Bureau is appalled by the acts of destruction committed in the Senate sitting room by 4 opposition senators on Thursday, May 30, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27871-haiti-flash-ransacking-of-the-senate-national-and-international-reactions.htmlof public goods and condemns "this despicable act, which does not honor the Senate." 72 pro-government Deputies and allies of the majority group, gathered in an undisclosed place, consider in an ultimate strategy, to sacrifice their mandate by handing their resignation letter to the Speaker of the House, to end in a radical way to this crisis.
Information confirmed Friday by Gary Bodeau, who said he was informed early in the morning by those deputies who are ready to resign if necessary, indicating that he has not received a letter of resignation so far.
Deputy Bodeau said that if these deputies resign to allow "the release of the situation of the country" this will automatically make the Parliament dysfunctional, but whose socio-political consequences remain unknown
Gary Bodeau is convinced that such a decision could help to set up a new Government since no meeting will be able to oppose it by means more and more questionable...
However, it could also be that this is just one way to put pressure on the Senate by threatening the lapse of Parliament...
In addition, the Senate office invites its 4 opposition senators responsible for acts of vandalism, to reconcile and to promote conflicting debates to expose and support their positions during the plenary sessions and/or conferences of the Senate. Presidents say "this is the only way to help us find a way out of this crisis that is getting worse by the day."
Senate Speaker Carl Murat Cantave on Friday announced a Presidents' Conference for Monday, June 3, to which senators are invited to decide on the follow-up to this ratification session and attempt to resolve the crisi... hoping that Parliament will still be functional...
To be followed...
