"In our capacity of citizens and aware of the harm that the behavior of these young of the zone of Curtis and Maro [two locations Petit-Goâve] that could have on peace, security and development of the entire region of Petit-Goâve, we initiated contact with these young people and we were able to convince them to deposit and remit the weapons," declared Me Deus Jean François and Father Miguel Auguste adding "that is why we ask all those who still have weapons in hand living in other areas of Petit-Goâve, to give up them. Weapons, we have stolen them on the national road #2 at demonstrations and barricades. Other individuals outside of Petit-Goâve, have helped us.

Today we want to return to school and back to our normal life. All we need now is reintegration. We want jobs and we want to live at ease. We handed our weapons and we want justice and police, give us a chance. We have taken this decision voluntarily, after having listened the advice of Father Miguel. We put our lives in his hands," declared the former Chiefs "rebels" of Curtis.

Thereafter, Father Miguel Auguste and Me Deus Jean François, went to the Police Station where they they handed over weapons to the Divisional Inspector Charles François in the presence of Justice of the Peace of the city Me Jude Leandre, and representatives of Minustah, of PNH specialized body (CIMO, UDMO and BIM) and members of the press.
