A team from the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) is in the Dominican Republic since the beginning of the week to conduct a supervision mission of the Program of Identification and Documentation of Haitian Immigrants (PIDIH).

As part of this mission, led by Gustave Acacia, the Program Coordinator in Haiti, the delegation will accompany the team of PIDIH in Dominican Republic to visit the development work carried out in the main sites selected to serve the Haitian people than four main cities where PIDIH will be established: Santo Domingo, Santiago De Los Caballeros, Higuey and Barahona.

Facilities will be made for teams of different institutions involved in the PIDIH including: The National Archives, ONI and Immigration in order to provide fast, quality service to the citizens who will take part in PIDIH Program. At the end of this mission, the General Coordination may determine launch dates for each city. Note that the month of October 2014 is retained for children born of Haitian parents in the Dominican Republic to be regularized and be able to participate in the National Program of Regularisation of Foreigners (PNRE).

Moreover, the MHAVE, recently transferred to the account of the program in the Dominican Republic, 150,000 dollars for the payment of rental of premises housing the program in Santo Domingo and Barahona, as well as staff salaries. The fund will also finance the redevelopment of the premises and the launch of the campaign "Idantite'm se fyète'm". In this context, mobile units working in yards, fields and batey where our countrymen are.

For the Support Group for Returnees and Refugees (GAAR), the closing date of the program is making great strides, while applicants are still struggling to bring all the documents required by the Dominican authorities, "We will attend a real failure of plan, if the Dominican authorities do not intend to take immediate measures to improve the plan and its extension."

The organizations of Civil Society, Haitian and Dominican, as well as applicants are very worried over the slow pace of the program. They feel that if the Haitian authorities do not work twice as hard to document Haitians residing illegally in Dominican territory, they will probably be repatriated at the end of the inscriptions to PNRE.
