At the end of April, USCIS was receiving an average of nearly 12,000 requests per day from people seeking to sponsor a migrant from one of the 4 beneficiary countries.

Internal DHS documents indicate that the hundreds of thousands of pending cases are causing significant wait times for applicants and if the monthly quota of 30,000 migrants is not raised, the effectiveness of the program could decrease and migrants bored of waiting could try their luck to enter the USA otherwise either illegally or simply by presenting themselves at the border and seeing if they can be admitted... Note that senior American officials have not indicated that they will increase the monthly quota of 30,000 admissions or even that they were planning to do so…

Note that the "Uniting for Ukraine" program to allow Americans to sponsor Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion launched in April 2022 has no quota or limit. By early May 2023, 127,000 Ukrainians had already benefited from this program.
