Campaign "Malè pa gen prejije" The prevention campaign of road accidents during the carnival period, called "Malè pa gen prejije" will be held once again at the initiative of the First Lady, Sophia Martelly. This prevention operation, launched for the first time in Les Cayes in 2012, aims to sensitize the population on the dangers of the road during high-risk periods such as the holiday season, the summer season and the carnival period. Several workshops were held between partners to ensure device efficient and effective on the 4 major axes which will be the most frequented during the carnival period. Dr. Guirlène Raymond, Director of the Department of Health indicated that of ambulance would be implemented at national level, at different points on different roads, to give an answer of proximityin case of incident adding that "health centers have already been identified to also bring responses." For his part, Will Dimanche, the Commissioner of the Central Directorate of Traffic Police (DCPR), announced that police forces will be deployed on roads to control traffic (speed, alcohol, overload, condition of vehicles). The zone of the carnival is a vast construction site : In the city Christophienne, it is the great mobilization. Along the boulevard, of the street 5A to Carrenage, construction professionals are working hard to deliver the works before the end of next weekend. Some stands are already at a stage advanced, others completed. The Electricity of Haiti (EDH) performs the installation of solar streetlights and large spotlights along the boulevard. Work repairs of streets have been observed in several city arteries and of sidewalks concreted. Soaring prices : Less than two weeks after the official announcements of the National Carnival in Cap-Haitien, almost all of the 400 available hotel rooms have been booked despite a price increase of about 200 to 300%... In the city, some owners of private homes, offering guest rooms for Carnival, to U.S. $250... Those less fortunate will have no other choice to seek accommodation outside the city or on the campgrounds. In addition, several farms, already indicate no longer have cattle for sale, despite a very significant increase in the price of their animals... It is true that Carnival offers significant economic benefits for merchants, farmers and local businesses, people fear a certain tendency to the increase in prices after the carnival, hich is likely to have a negative effect on the economy of a region, with low production capacity.
