Tuesday, back home after having participated in Cuba at the Special Summit of ALBA-TCP on Ebola https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12325-haiti-ebola-latin-america-and-the-caribbean-preoccupied-take-measures.html , Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe hosted preparatory meeting for the next high-level meeting with the Dominican Republic, where Haitian producers will be able to present their offers and products for eventual exports to the Dominican Republic.

The Head of Government also noted that the bilateral meeting with the Dominican Republic will allow the different industrial sectors to discuss together of business cooperation.

Recall that last bilateral meeting held on July 10 in the Dominican resort town of Juan Dolio (East of Santo Domingo) had led to agreement on several commercial aspects.

In the joint statement of Juan Dolio, it was agreed :

"1) the parties confirm that the trade of goods and services by road will be made through four customs offices officially established and jointly: Ouanaminthe-Dajabon, Belladères-Commendador, Malpasse-Jimani, Anse-a-Pitre-Pedernales.

2) each party agrees to facilitate into its territory the import of goods and services without discrimination measures ;

3) the parties decide to establish mechanisms for consultation and follow-up in order to remove barriers to trade do not comply with international standards ;

4) the Parties agree to establish mechanisms to ensure the sharing of information, to promote awareness of national trade regimes, including the legal framework, import procedures and standards on trade and investment opportunities ; and

5) The parties agree to establish a proper reporting mechanism to communicate any new measure or standard provision on trade ;"

The Prime Minister did not say when the new high-level meeting between the two countries will take place.
