Haiti - State against SOGENER : The Public Prosecutor launches a wave of invitations for hearings 15/11/2019 09:00:47
Me Jacques Lafontant, invites to attend the Procuratorate of Port-au-Prince on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 10:00 am: former ministers Frantz Vérella and Daniel Dorsainvil, Serge Raphael former director of the EDH, Élizabeth Débrosse Préval, shareholder in SOGENER and Jean Marie Vorbe, Dimitri Vorbe, Réginald Vorbe Fils and the lawyer Roger Lefèvre, members of SOGENER's Board of Directors "[...] to answer for factspf fake and use of forgery in private writing, overcharging, illicit enrichment, criminal conspiracy and breach of trust; following the complaint of the Haitian State, filed on November 8, 2019, to the prosecutor's office of that jurisdiction, the body responsible for criminal prosecution [...]" stipulates the invitation of the State Commissioner of the Government. In addition, Md Lafontant asked the Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), Jean Baden Dubois, to send him, as soon as possible, all the documents attesting to the State's payments from the public treasury to the benefit of the SOGENER from 2006 to the present day. A similar request was made to Joseph Jouthe, the Minister of the Economy and Finance. Commissioner Lafontant stresses that these people are defendants, invited in a hearing phase because of presumptions that could be requalified according to the hearings. Note that the day before the sending of these invitations, Jean Marie Vorbe Chairman and CEO of SOGENER had sent a correspondence to the Minister of Works and the Minister of the Economy and Finance due to the lack of follow-up of the meeting of September 17, 2019... At the end of the discussions, it was agreed that the minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 22 October 2019 and the report of the Steering Committee on Energy Sector Reform will be communicated to SOGENER in accordance with the principle contradictory. As a result, a new date was to be set for further discussions on the basis of that report and other points. But until today no report, no report and no new invitation have been notified to SOGENER.
